We offer high-quality shipping containers for your storage needs. These durable and secure containers are designed to withstand various weather conditions, providing an ideal solution for storing your belongings safely. Our 20ft x 8ft (8ft 6″ high) shipping containers are available for rent at £264 (inc VAT) per calendar month, with a minimum rental period of 1 month.
A one-off deposit of £100 is required, which will be fully refunded upon the return of the padlock, key, key-fob, and satisfactory inspection of your container.
Please note that our prices are reviewed at the beginning of each year and may be adjusted if necessary based on various factors.
We do not accept cash payments for our storage container rentals. We require ID to open a rental agreement, and a valid credit card is needed for monthly payments.
You can receive 12 months for the price of 11 months when paying for a year upfront.
Our containers are 20ft x 8ft, giving you 160sq ft of storage space which is the equivalent of the contents of a 7.5 tonne van or the contents of a 3-4 bedroom house.
Yes, we have a minimum rental period of 1 month.
For your Storage Container, payment is required every month. Starting from the second month, payment is due on the 1st of each month for the upcoming month. Unfortunately, we do not accept cash payments. Payment options available are:
- Paying via invoice (for businesses) directly to our bank.
- Setting up a standing order directly to our bank.
- Making a payment using a credit/debit card (Note: We do not accept AMEX).
At our Erith location, key holders can access their storage 7 days a week from 6am to 8pm. If you need to access your items outside of these hours, arrangements can be made in advance, keeping certain conditions in mind. Additionally, our Aylesford site provides 24/7 access.
All our storage units are equipped with a sturdy steel lock to guarantee the safekeeping of your possessions. Additionally, we have state-of-the-art CCTV monitoring in place to enhance security within the container area. When you sign a rental agreement, you will receive a padlock, key, and key fob. The containers locks come with heavy steel covers making it virtually impossible to break in to. The key fob grants you access to the container area, ensuring a secure and convenient storage experience backed by our advanced security measures. Storage containers are recognised by insurance companies as a highly secure method of storage.
We do not provide insurance coverage for stored items, and it is your responsibility to arrange insurance for your belongings. While our facility is highly secure, we cannot guarantee the safety of your stored items against unforeseen events such as theft, fire, or natural disasters. We highly recommend that you obtain insurance coverage for your stored items before placing them in our storage facility. YES – all our containers are either new or single trip containers
We’re sorry, but our containers are not temperature-controlled, and therefore, we cannot accommodate the storage of temperature-sensitive or perishable items. Our units are designed to provide a secure and convenient storage solution for a wide range of items, but we recommend that you do not store items that require temperature control in our containers. If you have any questions about what items are safe to store, please feel free to contact us, and we’ll be happy to help you find the best storage solution for your needs.
A minimum of two weeks notice needs to be provided to terminate your contract. Please complete the termination form available here or from the office and email the form to tracy@kent-selfstorage.co.uk confirming when you will be leaving. Please note that no refunds for container rental will be given for periods already paid for. Deposit refunds will be issued once your container is inspected and keys/fobs/lock returned to the office. Any container left dirty or key/fob/lock lost will lose their full deposit money. Account and Sort Code is required for deposit to be refunded direct to your account. Please allow two weeks for the money to reach your account.
Unfortunately we do not deliver containers to your location, you will rent a container at one of our depots, either at Erith or Aylesford.
NO – We only have 1 size container in our yards.
Upon renting your container you will need to bring photo ID, proof of address and your payment card. This can be done Monday-Friday 10am-5pm. Your initial payment will consist of 1 full months rent plus your security deposit of £100.00. Once this payment has been made you will be given your key, fob and shown to your container. For customers taking their container on part way through the month, your second month’s rental will be pro-rata for that month.
Absolutely. You, or anyone else you grant access to, must not store the following items in the Unit:
- (i) Food or Perishable Goods: Unless they are securely packed to protect them from vermin.
- (ii) Living Creatures: Such as birds, fish, animals, etc.
- (iii) Flammable Materials: This includes combustible materials or liquids such as paint, petrol, oil, cleaning solvents.
- (iv) Dangerous Items: Like explosives, weapons, ammunition.
- (v) Hazardous Materials: Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents are not allowed.
- (vi) Waste: Toxic waste, asbestos or other materials that are of a dangerous nature.
- (vii) Odor-Emitting Items: Items that give off fumes, smells, or odours.
- (viii) Illegal Items: Any substances, items, or goods that are illegal or obtained illegally.
- (ix) Compressed Gases: This is strictly prohibited.
- (x) Vehicle Tyres: Rubber tyres used by any vehicles are not allowed.
Storing prohibited items can lead to immediate termination of your storage agreement and may also expose you to legal liabilities, especially if the items cause harm or damage to the storage facility or to other users’ property.
Remember, the list above is in place to ensure the safety of all users and the integrity of the storage facility. If you’re ever uncertain about an item, it’s always best to ask before storing it.
Yes, you can. While certain items are prohibited from being stored, personal use electronic products such as e-bikes, e-scooters, and the likes are exempted from this prohibition as long as they are stored safely and in compliance with all other storage guidelines. Always ensure that they do not pose a risk to the unit or other stored items.
